Netbook Sales Explode
Sales of netbooks in 2009 have increased 103% over the sales in 2008. At the same time, notebook PC sales have seen a decline in 2009 from 2008. These statistics were released in the Quarterly Notebook PC Shipment and Forecast Report by DisplaySearch.
The study reported that global netbook sales will reach 33.3 million units for 2009 which is almost twice as many sold in 2008. DisplaySearch predicts 2010 sales to reach 39.7 million units for a 19% growth rate in 2010.
The popularity of netbooks is attributed to their portability and low price making them a good choice for a first computer or a secondary home PC or just a simple device to check email or get on the internet.
The increase in netbook sales means there is a greater demand for netbook cases and netbook bags to accomodate the small size of the netbook. Specialty companies like Bolt Bags have seen the new demand for netbook cases and provided a new style to serve this growing market.
